About / This Tool

Write Titles & Descriptions Google Actually Shows

Google measures snippets in rendered pixels, not in characters. A title with thin letters fits more text than one with wide letters — even at the same character count. This tool measures real pixel width using the same Arial font Google renders, so you stop guessing and start shipping titles that don't get cut off.

01 / Accuracy
Why Pixel Width Matters
  • Character count lies — "Illinois" and "WWWWWW" are both 8 characters, but one is twice as wide.
  • Google uses pixels — the truncation point is roughly 580px on desktop titles, 920px on mobile.
  • Real Arial rendering — the tool uses the HTML5 canvas API and Arial to mirror what Google does.
  • No more cut-off titles — see the truncation marker before you ship.
🛠
02 / Workflow
How To Use It
  1. Paste a URL and click Generate Preview to import the live title and description.
  2. Or skip the URL and write a new title and description from scratch.
  3. Edit on the left — watch the desktop and mobile SERP preview update on the right.
  4. Keep the pixel bar in the green zone for both fields.
  5. Copy the final tags into your CMS or pass to your developer.

Works with WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, custom-built sites — anything with editable title and meta tags.

This tool fixed your tags. What about the traffic?

A tuned-up title and meta description are table stakes. They don't fix a page that doesn't rank, a funnel that won't convert, or analytics that don't tell you why. If you're stuck on any of that — I'll spend a weekend on it with you, end to end, completely free.

No pitch deck, no proposal, no upsell at the end. I'm not selling a service right now. The only thing I ask in return is a short video testimonial of your experience after we're done. That's it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why measure by pixels instead of characters?
Google truncates titles and descriptions based on the rendered width of the text, not the character count. A title made of narrow letters like "i" and "l" fits more characters than one with wide letters like "W" or "M". Pixel measurement matches how Google actually decides what to display.
What is the maximum title pixel width?
Roughly 580 to 600 pixels on desktop. Beyond that, Google appends an ellipsis. On mobile, the limit is wider — around 920 pixels — because the SERP card uses more screen width relative to the font size.
What is the maximum meta description pixel width?
Around 920 to 990 pixels on desktop. That's typically two lines of text. Mobile shows slightly more, but you should still write for the desktop limit to be safe.
Does Google always show my meta description?
No. Google chooses the snippet it thinks best matches the user's query — sometimes that's your meta description, sometimes it's content pulled from the body of the page. Writing a strong description still matters because Google uses it most of the time for branded and informational queries.
How does this tool calculate the pixel width?
It uses the HTML5 canvas measureText() API with Arial — the font Google uses to render search results — to measure the actual rendered width of your text. The result matches what Google sees within a pixel or two.
Is my data stored when I check a URL?
No. The URL is fetched server-side only to extract the title and meta description, then the result is returned to your browser. Nothing is logged or stored.
What if my page is behind a login or geo-blocked?
If the server can't fetch the page, you can still use the tool by manually typing or pasting your title and description into the fields. The pixel preview works exactly the same.

Tags are tuned. Need a hand with the rest of the page?

A pixel-perfect title gets the click. Getting people to stay, scroll, and convert after the click is a different problem. If you want a second pair of eyes on your funnel, your tracking, or your UX — I'll spend a weekend on it with you, free. One short video testimonial when we're done.
